Last Supper Recipe

Here’s an old family recipe you can use when all you’ve got in the pantry is the last can of chili with beans from Costco.
- Open pulltop can – no can opener necessary, unless you break off the pulltop tab
- Scoop into small pan using a spoon, fork, knife, or whatever is clean and available
- Simmer low on stovetop for about 5 minutes, or at least until lukewarm
- Pour into bowl, or serve straight from the pan
- Be sure to save some for the dog
Hornbill Howdy

This gregarious Abyssinian Ground Hornbill lives at the Living Desert Zoo in Palm Springs. She just loves to wave hello!
Desert Hummingbird

It’s 105 degrees in the shade and this little Palm Springs native doesn’t seem to mind.
Road trip Solvang
Solvang in the Santa Ynez valley is a favorite overnight stopover when we travel leisurely north up the coast of California on U.S. Highway 101 from Los Angeles towards Monterey. Here are a few snaps taken on our last visit.
We always enjoy a cold glass from the neighborhood tavern, a glass of wine or two from a local vineyard, followed by a walk along Mission Drive for treats from the local bakeries.
We always enjoy a satisfying breakfast and coffee before continuing our adventures.
45131 Fargo Street – Indio, California

I photographed this long-abandoned burger stand located in the California desert town of Indio last summer. It was for sale at the time.
It’s always fun to social distance with someone you love.

Circuit of the Americas before the roar

This is one of my favorite photos from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Taken on May 19, 2018, I love the way it captures the quiet early morning solitude of the empty grandstands and the view of the track up towards turn number one, just moments before the roar of the race cars taking to the track for testing.
George H.W. Bush Presidential Library

A few favorite photographs from our April, 2018 visit to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.
There are fourteen Presidential Libraries operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. This is the fifth Presidential Library we’ve visited over the years.
Our other Presidential Library visits include:
-
- LBJ Presidential Library (Austin, Texas)
- Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum (Yorba Linda, California)
- William J. Clinton Library and Museum (Little Rock, Arkansas)
- Ronald Reagan Presidential Library (Simi Valley, California)
We’ve also visited The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson (Nashville, Tennessee) and the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (Stonewall, Texas).
Irrespective of your political affiliation, I encourage you to visit a Presidential Library. Each are different, interesting, and educational.
The Great White Pelican

Flashback to my last visit to the San Diego Zoo where I met these two Great White Pelicans (Pelecanus onorotalus). These beautiful birds are native to Africa and Eurasia.
